Agender

Someone who is agender is someone who does not identify as either binary gender, or any combination of them. Some agender people explain it as not feeling any feeling of identification with gender.

In order to avoid association with a binary gender, some agender people may prefer they/them pronouns, although this depends on the person. If you are unsure, just ask them what their pronouns are!

An agender friend of ours explained how they felt by using a metaphor about silverware.
"Imagine this: all people are silverware. Men are represented by forks, and women are represented by spoons. Some people may feel more like sporks, but an agender person feels more like a knife. They're still silverware, but they're not a fork, and they're not a spoon, and they're not a combination of the two, either. They're just a knife."
However, since being agender is so broad, this metaphor may not apply to everyone. If you're ever curious about what someone means specifically when they say that they're agender, you should just ask - they'll probably be happy that you want to know more!

Agender Pride Flag
The black and white stripes of the agender flag represent the absence of gender, the gray
represents being semi-genderless, and the green represents non-binary genders, as it is the
inverse of purple.
