Transgender

A person who is transgender is someone who identifies with the gender opposite of their sex at birth. For example, someone who is born as a female but is transgender would be male, and vice versa. Additionally, the term transgender has come to be used as an umbrella term for anyone who identifies with a different gender than their sex at birth, regardless of whether or not it is the opposite.

On the Internet, many people express their identity as a transgender person using slang. For example, "MTF" stands for male to female, so a person that was born male but identifies as female, and "FTM" stands for female to male, which means the person was born female but identifies as male. "Trans" is a shortened version of the word transgender, and is used commonly both on the Internet and in real life. "Trans boy" is used to refer to someone who is FTM, and "trans girl" is used to refer to someone who is MTF.

A trans boy is not just a girl who's a tomboy, and the two are not even remotely close. Being trans is not a choice, and it isn't a fashion or behavior-related thing. It's much deeper than that, and it's total identification with a different gender than the one they were assigned at birth. The same applies to trans girls; they aren't just being "girly" or enjoying girly things. These might have seemed to apply when they were kids, but being transgender goes much deeper than the way someone dresses or behaves, or who they are friends with.

There are many transgender celebrities, but Nick Camryn, a small YouTuber, has many good resources on his channel, has many good videos about his journey as a FTM transgender person.
