Tyler Oakley

Tyler Oakley is a well-known creator on YouTube, and has gained a following of nearly 8 million people. He was born on March 22, 1989 in Jackson, Michigan into a large family - he has 12 siblings! Tyler is mostly known for his lighthearted videos and activism for the LGBTQ+ community.

In a 2011 video entitled "The 'Coming Out' Challenge," Tyler reveals that he first came out when he was fourteen, and talks about how he continues to come out to people, which gets easier every time. He gives advice on coming out in the video, encouraging his viewers to come out, but on their own terms and their own way, rather than how or when someone else says they should.

Tyler has also worked closely with the Trevor Project, an organization focused on preventing LGBTQ+ teen suicide. In 2014, Tyler Oakley received the Trevor Youth Innovator Award for his work and fundraising for the organization. You can watch his video about it here.

Tyler has used his fame and success to contribute as much as he can to the LGBTQ+ community, and will continue to do so year after year.
