Genderfluid

Someone who is genderfluid has a shifting gender identity. This means that their expression of gender shifts frequently depending on different factors in the individual's life. Depending on their current mental state, genderfluid people may identify as their biological gender, the opposite gender, or a combination of the two/a nonbinary gender.

Many people bend their binary gender to their own form of expression, such as a female who acts very masculine, a male who acts very feminine or someone who is completely neutral. While these people are often fixed at one point on the scale, genderfluid people may adopt different gender expressions in different situations. For example, today they may feel very feminine, while next week they may identify more with the masculine spectrum of the scale.

Pronouns for a genderfluid person depend on the individual's preference. One person may use they/them, another may choose to adopt corresponding pronouns for each of their different expressions, and yet another might use an entirely different set of pronouns. It is best to ask someone their preference before assuming.
